Overview

In the past few months the article submitter race has heated up. It used to be that Automatic Article Submitter was the defacto ‘Kind of the Hill’ – but times have changed. Today there are two new submitters that surpass AAS and provide a better user interface and support to boot. We’re talking, of course, about Article Demon (from the creators of Bookmarking Demon) and Article Marketing Robot. We like them both, but Article Demon gets our #1 pick because of its more elegant interface and top notch support.

When it comes to article submission, article spinning is generally a must. Now there are many out there that argue that article spinning is a waste of time and not necessary, etc… but you have to look at it logically. True, there is no duplicate content penalty – that myth has long sense been put to bed (see our top rated Article Marketing Lies eBook – free download). But you still have to think of the way these networks work and many of the sites out there simply want unique content and so spinning it will give you a higher distribution percentage, a higher pickup rate and simply more backlinks. The spinning is also very effective for varying the title and the anchor text or keywords for your links.

Article Demon includes this spinning support inherent to its system – like any good submitter these days. That being said, none of these tools – Automatic Article Submitter, Article Marketing Robot or Article Demon – can compete with The Best Spinner when it comes to content spinning. So for us, spinning support inside an article submitter is only necessary from a distribution standpoint – we don’t use or recommend their spinner on its own merits. That being said, it will suffice in a pinch if you don’t have a spinner or just need to make simple alterations.

How It Works

Today article submitters like Article Demon have come a long, long way. The first submitters we used required you to manually configure all of the accounts – wow, what a chore. Even then, though, they made sense to use because after you spent the requisite hours of configuration time setting them up, they did automate the distribution process. Today, however, things have changed dramatically. Quality submitters like Article Demon will largely automate even the account creation process.

So, how does it work? First you setup your accounts and configure your email client access. Then you let Article Demon automate the account creation. After that is done, you’ll get some emails that you will have to validate. Again, past generation submitters got you this far (some of them) but then you still had to manually validate your emails, etc… seems easy until you realize there are over a thousand of them! Article Demon, however, does that part for you as well. After you configure your email access, Article Demon can log in and automatically parse the emails and respond to them appropriately to “validate” your accounts for you – again saving you the time and effort.

The one constant on the Net however, is change and article directories are getting more and more sophisticated. Many of them now are requiring captcha codes for account creation, validation and some even for article submission. They just keep adding more and more hoops that you have to jump through and each time they do a one-time purchase like Article Demon is more and more substantiated. The fact is that Article Demon is one step ahead of them there too because it included support for bypassing the captchas (this is a separate service that you must subscribe too, but very affordable and well worth it). You may or may not need this – just depends on if you are using lots of different projects where you are constantly setting up different accounts and such or if you are relatively constant on this. But for us the added time savings is well worth the penny’s per use fee.

After you have everything all setup, it’s pretty straightforward. Upload your content and submit it. But that process can be done very intelligently with Article Demon. We’re not going to talk about the content upload portion as it is the same basic stuff that all of the submitters do – include the title, description, summary, resource box, etc… all of which can be “spun” for more uniqueness. The article directory selection screen, however, is very elegant and has a lot of very nice features. First of all, it shows you right in the grid view the PR (page rank) of the directory listed so you can quickly and easily sort by PR, for example or just submit to higher PR directories if you wish. Personally we believe in going wide with article submission and by that we mean everywhere you can, but being able to filter down by PR is a nice feature to have. Take a look at the two screen prints below and you can see the various column headings that you can sort on. They include: PR, DoFollow, Site, Group (this is the type of directory), Block Public Mail Provider (so, for example, the site won’t allow you to register via a Gmail email account), Multiple Pen Names, Requires Category, Number of Accounts (this is how many accounts you have setup for this directory), Remarks (this is for your own notes and if you use this intelligently you can sort a lot of things quickly and easily), Has Captcha, Has Captcah Login, and Has Captcha Submission. All of these columns can easily be sorted on just by clicking on them and toggling the sort of your view. You can use these various column headings to narrow down the directories you want to submit to very easily and this grid view is one of our favorite features because the vitals are right there in front of you.

Other Features

There are lots of other features that Article Demon offers that really are the icing on the cake. Like Article Marketing Robot, Article Demon also allows you to publish content to your own WordPress Blogs. This is super easy to setup and configure and is a nice feature to have to manage your own content distributions.

Project management with Article Demon is a very nice feature. You can setup multiple projects and define accounts separately within them, etc… Here’s a quick screen print of it. You can see the projects along the left and you can create as many as you need simply and easily to organize your submissions.

Another great feature and the only other submitter that we know of that offers this feature is Article Marketing Robot and that is the ability to retrieve your URLS from your submissions. Article Demon can check the sites after distribution and pull out the URLS for your articles and include them in your reports. This is a must have in our book because for anyone who maintains a database of their links you can make sure they keep indexed this way. Also, if you’re doing any work for a client you can generate reports of your distributions – again, a must have.

Drip scheduling of your distributions is a must as well. No one wants to blast out 1100 submissions at once (btw, we have approximately 1092 directories available in our installation) and fortunately Article Demon has the best scheduler out there. It is the only submitter that we are aware of that has a visual calendar scheduler – a nice touch.

Lastly one other unique feature as far as we know is that the spinner allows you to define synonyms that are niche specific. So that if you want some synonyms to be visible when you’re spinning a weight loss article but not to be visible when you’re spinning a financial article, you can define them separately. Niche specific synonym options is a very nice touch that we simply don’t see in the competition – even The Best Spinner doesn’t offer this feature. There are other features as well such as proxy rotation, multi-threading, accurate category selection, anti-bot human emulation and many, many others.

The Results

Article submitters all do the same thing and basically they all do it about equally. The differences between a great article submitter and a good one are really small differences that make the overall process simpler, faster and more efficient. That’s why we like Article Demon so much, because it has lots of very small differences that really put the finishing touches on a submission tool. Most any of the competitors will do most of the same things that Article Demon does, however, it’s the efficiency and simplicity of Article Demon that separates it from the pack – little stuff like syntax checking on your spun content so you don’t submit garbage. Also added features like being able to generate a report of the URLS for your articles and captcha solving features as well as enhanced scheduling really stand out. The network size is a bit smaller than Article Marketing Robot at around 1100 directories, but many of the other features give it the nod over Article Marketing Robot in our book.

What We Don’t Like About Article Demon

Most of these submitters have this same fault (in our book) and that is that it is a desktop tool. This means that in order for the scheduling to work properly you have to have it open and running on your system. Now, for many, this is not a negative, but for us it is. We like everything to be a server based program that we can run and administer online without being tied to a given computer. The one advantage, however, that Article Demon does offer is that it’s design allows it to be portable – you can even install and run it from a pen drive or USB device.

We had some issues getting email configured at first, but it turned out to be related to a DNS issue so not really something we can blame on the tool. Our biggest complaint with Article Demon is that in our opinion the manual is not very helpful. It walks you through stuff with screen prints – yes. But it really doesn’t explain the “concept” or the “why” behind anything and it does leave you frustrated at times. Their support, however, is top notch and we used it a few times so we feel very good talking about the positive support experience we had.

Pricing

Article Demon is a little pricier than its competition at $127, but in our book it is well worth that little bit extra. What you’ve got to remember is that this is a one-time purchase and so an extra $20 now to save a lot of grief in the long run is well worth it. If you use the tool for a year that extra will only cost you about $1.50 a month in usage – next to nothing. The next best submitter in our book right now is Article Marketing Robot and it is $97, so there is just not that much of a difference when you consider the one-time purchase aspects.
